It is amazing how students often come out with great stuff in academic projects, like model planes, cheap cars and just in, a hugely popular software program for YouTube users that can download videos to Apple TVs, iPhones and iPods.

The name of the software is “tooble.” This software was exposited at the Mac World 2008 conference and Expo in Frisco. This led to their site www.tooble.tv getting 350,000 hits and 25,000 downloads in just a couple of weeks. This free software benefits just Apple users, with a Windows version expected by summer.

According to Jesse Youngblood, who worked on the project, he felt the software would be popular but was still not ready for this huge popularity. It was quite a happy coincidence of events that led to Youngblood getting involved with this project in the way it turned out.

About 10,000 lines of code were written by Youngblood for the Mac OS X, this was tested by Susan Heinz, Youngblood’s computer science teacher. After this Alex Catullon, Fang, and Savalgi have been recruted to develop tooble for Windows.

The name “tooble” was chosen after a contest to name to app, and the winner was given an iPod Nano.
