iPod enthusiasts have yet another toy to consider buying – the Maranz Bluetooth Dock for iPod.This new product from Home Entertainment Peripheral Maker Maranz America may just become the rage among iPod peripherals. The model number is IS301, the price is $250 and the release…umm the bummer is that it is not in time for christmas. Yep the information right now is that the IS301 from Maranz is releasing in January.

 If your iPod is connected to a home entertainment system, then the IS301 will give you wireless audio playback. Its functionalities include the ability to transmit video and audio files and work in a manner like and extended wired system.

Lets dive into what the IS301 is and what it does. There is a handset that attaches to your iPod. There is a compact base unit that connects to the home entertainment system. Optionally, you can use the RX unit for advanced wire connections. This includes CAT5 2/2 video, CAT5 1/2 audio. There is support for analog stereo audio, component, composite video  support and s video.

With the RX unit there is an IR flasher input as well as RS 232 C control. Any device that supports A2DP device profile – bluetooth device will support this. Now  that is hi-tech, new age, wowy gadgetry for your iPod.
